Over the next few weeks, The GuardianMX service will be implementing new features to the Email Defense Service. The following provides details on what is changing, why we are implementing these changes and what the expected impact will be.
Spam Control for Outlook- 2007 Upgrade
What’s Changing? – GuardianMX offers Spam Control for Outlook free of charge. Now, this simple and effective spam-fighting add on service has been upgraded to include Outlook 2007.
When? – This upgraded version will be available for download and installation starting July 31, 2008.
Why? – By adding this “Delete as Spam” button onto your Outlook navigation bar, you can quickly and easily delete any message you perceive as spam from your inbox and automatically send this message to the GuardianMX Threat Center for evaluation.
Impact –If you are an GuardianMX customer with Outlook 2003 or above, we invite you to download this "Delete As Spam" feature at no charge. Each user must take this action individually to ensure the Delete as Spam button appears on their Outlook navigation bar.
Note: Should the user already have the “Delete as Spam” button due to a previous installment, it will be necessary to uninstall the old one before reinstalling the new Outlook 2007 upgraded version. The old version will be disallowed at 2008 calendar year end.
Directory Integration Notification Feature
What’s Changing? – GuardianMX is adding a notification feature to its Directory Integration service to provide notifications of exceptions that occur during the user synchronization with Directory Integration. Previously, the notification was not sent, but logged and viewable in the Control Console under the Rejections tab of the Sync details. This added functionality allows an administrator to forward these alerts to a definable distribution list.
When? – This upgrade will be implemented over the weekend of July 18 - 20, 2008 and users will be able to see this feature beginning Monday, July 21st.
Why? – Since administrators have the ability to automatically sync their users, they may not be aware of any exceptions that were generated unless they log into the GuardianMX Control Console. By adding this failure notification, administrators will be better informed of the progress of each synchronization and is especially beneficial in the event they need to take action within their infrastructure to correct or resolve the exception or failure.
